In the cryptocurrency field, mastering these common terms is crucial. I have compiled 100 commonly used vocabulary words, arranged in A-Z order.

  • ATH—All-Time High;
  • Aggregators—Aggregators; Explanation: A new type of decentralized exchange platform that connects liquidity pools from different platforms to provide users with the best trading prices.
  • APY—Annual Percentage Yield; annual percentage yield: The actual annual return considering the compounding factor.
  • Arbitrage—Arbitrage trading; transferring tokens from a low-priced platform to sell on a high-priced platform.
  • APR—Annual Percentage Rate; annual percentage rate: The actual annual return not considering the impact of compounding.
  • AMM—Automated Market Maker; automated market makers: An automated trading system realized through algorithms.
  • AML—Anti-Money Laundering; anti-money laundering: Measures to prevent the legitimization of illegal funds.
  • AMA—Ask Me Anything; ask me anything: A common form of communication between project teams and users.
  • BD—Business Development; 1. Responsible for maintaining partnerships; 2. Proactive public relations to acquire target users.
  • Byzantine Generals Problem—The more network nodes there are, the harder it is to reach consensus across the network.

  • Impossible Triangle—Decentralization, Scalability, Security; currently, no consensus mechanism can perfectly balance all three.
  • Super Mario—The project team has a high level of control, leading to significant price volatility.
  • Genesis Block—The first block created in a blockchain.
  • Collateral—Collateral; assets provided by the debtor as security for the debt.
  • CEX—Centralized Exchange; centralized exchange: User assets are held and controlled centrally by the exchange.
  • CEFI—Centralized Finance; centralized finance: Includes banks, financial institutions, and exchanges.
  • veToken—Voting Escrow Token Model; Token holders lock tokens in exchange for governance rights and other benefits, such as CRV, BAL, YFI.
  • Governance Token Model—Governance; Tokens that grant owners voting rights in a specific protocol, with voting rights calculated based on token weight and time weight.
  • Token Weighted Voting—The number of governance tokens held determines the voting weight.
  • Time Weighted Voting—The longer the tokens are locked, the greater the voting power, such as UNI, COMP, ENS.

  • Doxx—Public Identity; abbreviation indicating the project is not anonymous, undoxx means anonymous.
  • DYOR—Do Your Own Research; a common disclaimer.
  • Floor Price—Floor Price: The minimum market price of an NFT.
  • DAO—Decentralized Autonomous Organization; decentralized autonomous organization: A form of organization that operates autonomously on the blockchain through smart contracts.
  • DEX—Decentralized Exchange; decentralized exchange: Users have complete control over the funds in their wallets or smart contracts.
  • DEFI—Decentralized Finance;
  • DAPP—Decentralized Application; open-source software running on a decentralized network.
  • EVM—Ethereum Virtual Machine; a decentralized cloud server that supports the automatic execution of uploaded contracts.
  • ERC—1155: Ethereum NFT protocol that allows the minting of a limited number of fungible NFTs.
  • ETF—Exchange-Traded Fund; buying a Bitcoin ETF is equivalent to holding a Bitcoin index.

  • ERC-20: Ethereum token standard that supports developers in creating custom tokens.
